Let’s be realistic here, Andy might answer this question personally, but he is a busy guy with lot’s of responsibilities. Beside, this is the kind of question that many of the members here could answer, even if they didn’t write the book.
I take it that you are not using command control. If you were, this would not be an issue. The secret is to have a block of track where you can turn the power off under the road engine, and let the cars of the train hang out beyond the dead section, allowing the switcher to come out and pick up the train. This is a very basic concept of block wiring, and I’m sure the book covers it .
It sounds like your layout is made up of two loops which are isolated electrically at the crossovers. What you need to do is add another set of insulated joiners in the loop where you want to kill the road engine. I hope this answers your question. Sorry I’m not Andy. Who knows, he could be on vacation this week. [swg]
Ok I didnt mean to get everyone fired up here I just thought I ask this question in here its hard for me to understand stuff.I will try your Ideas,The reason I aked Andy was cause he know alot about Model Railroads and Etc.since he wrote a book on wiring I didnt get that one he made hope I didnt do anything wrong here all I did ws ask a question about block wiring is all.And I know I didnt do anything bad or wrong just asked a question.Hope ya guys can except my apologizes.[:D].Plus I could not find a way to contact him to aks my questions for him.
No need to apologize, I know you didn’t do anything wrong, and nobody is fired up. I just thought you might like an answer to your question so you could get your railroad working. A lot of people had looked at your question, myself included, waiting and not answering, in hopes that Andy would show up. He might still show up and answer, but now your topic is still on the front page, and you can get started. It never hurts to try and ask. Have fun! [8D]
Hello “fxsts94,”
I think you’ll find the answer to your question covered in my book, “Easy Model Railroad Wiring,” from Kalmbach Books. See page 61, “Local Priority with Atlas Selectors,” and figure 6-5 on page 60.
Good luck,
Andy
