I think most people use the “ditto” reply to show agreement on a point of view more than post count.
I think there is too much energy being expended on “post padders”. Yes, they exist but the wheat gets separated from the chaff and they eventual blow away. Another “padder” shows up but the same thing happens. My years with dealing with discussion boards has shown to me that the top posters are the people who long termers with something of value to post.
I think it refreshes often, so to stay in the top 10 one would have to constantly day in and night out make silly post like this one. That would soon get tedious for anyone, especially since it seems one must go to the top of the forms section (where I seldom go) just to see it.
What no one seems to have mentioned is the over all post rating when one calls up a member profile. I have noticed that it doesn’t display your own ranking. Or if it does, I don’t know how to display it. That way only other people know your over-all rank. The other thing I’ve noticed is that several heavy hitters (post wise) haven’t logged in since the converstion so everyone else (like mine) are rating higher than where we should be. Right now I noticed space mouse is listed as #1.
I am now beginning to notice a few real problems. Occasionally I will click on a thread and get some strange error messages, and other times it will revert to a page that says “no longer exists”. This is even though I was just on that very page!
Bob, and anyone else who wants to put in 2 cents worth.
What is this “Post rank” and where does it come from? I occasionally open up peoples’ profile to see what their name is and anything else that might be of interest. I am a great Bob Grech fan (the guy who posts beaut photos of his 1930’s layout), so I opened up his profile and noticed his post rank is zero.
If this “post rank” has something to do with the quality of a member’s posts then there is a great miscarriage of justice there. I would give Bob a high score. Mine is zero, but that is well deserved and appropriate.
I just wonder does the button labelled “Rate” have something to do with it? If we want our mates to get a high “post rank” we have to hit that button and give them a boost?[?]
I have tried faq. No clues there. I tried search, and found this thread.
It must be the higher the number the worse you are. Mine is 128, Joes is 8 [I think] and like you said, Bob Grechs is zero.
I certainly don’t see myself better then most of the others here. That’s nuts. So zero must be the highest.
I am only guessing though. I didn’t even know about it until you guys mentioned it.
