Post Rating "Stars"

Since no one else has asked, what happened to the post rating “stars” that used to show up under the topic headings? I found that helpful in avoiding posts that others felt were of limited value.

I haven’t seen anyone using them so far. [:-^]

I don’t know. But stars only have meaning if someone has asigned meaning to a thread via stars. It does not necessarily mean a thread is any better than another. For instance the “Elliot’s trackside Diner” thread always got 5 stars and some think that thread is a garbage waste of time and space, others see a distinct value to the “comraderie” of it.

I’ve tried to use them as the “rate this post” selection shows up on the individual threads, but there is no longer any reaction when you click on them.

Well, they did seem to have meaning, because you could rate the threads from poor to excellent. I used them as my silent pro

maxman,

Check at the top right of the page.

I’m still seeing stars.

I often wonder how a thread that has been read by four people and has one reply gets five stars…

It’s pretty obvious someone is rating his own thread at that point.

I like the star system but think the forum software should not allow the OP to rate his own thread.

Yes, I did see it there. But it used to flash to show that you had “voted”. It does not seem to do that now. Plus I thought that the ratings showed up on the topics page as well, so that you didn’t need to open a thread to find out.

Personally I use the forum to gain and share information, not to vote. I get enough of that in other mediums.
