Post War New Haven 2350

I want one.

I have always wanted one.

I think the color scheme is hip and I believe the black rolling stock with orange doors are readily available.

It does not have to be “like new”, just better than ok.

Anyone have any advice as to what I should pay before I sail the Bay of E??

I paid like $600 for a like new one about six years ago. They may of come down a bit. I don’t know. You should be able to get a nice one for around $300 or $400. You might consider a Lionel LLC PWC version too. They are sharp looking and likely to be cheaper than an excellent origional.

thanks 3rail.

For me it absolutely, positively has to be post war original. I don’t care much if it has some wings and dings, it’s not an investment, it is part of my post war layout, and I am driven to be authentic. The post war collection I have accummulated was all run by ordinary folks at Christmas time. It is in remarkable shape for it’s history, but by no means the stuff collectors would drool over - just nice stuff that runs nicely and is in really good shape.

I also see the 6464 cars are available for a song, and appear to be mid-50s production, although they reference 1969 cataloging. The 6464-725 orange boxcaris described as 1962 production, which is abit later than I want. Anyone that can shed any light on these, I’d be appreciative.

I also see a 6464-25 identified as produced in 1956 which is bright orange with black doors and white lettering. I would like to mix these with the black cars.

I see them on eBay from time to to time. If you don’t mind putting on a new decal (noce graphics), you can get a good runner for about $200+. One with a decent looking original decal are close to $400. Beware of battery damage and screw hole cracks. And if the seller doesn’t list the horn as working, it won’t.

There’s also a lot of auctions coming up, Stout, NETTE, etc. And I seem to remember a lot of postwar in upcoming lots.

Good luck. Post pix when you get your consist together.

Frank, 1960’s NH 6464’s are fairly common and go for around $50 for a nice one. I have a few 60’s 6464’s with plastic trucks and they are good runners. I did snap the head off a coupler once from running too long a train. Postwar prices aren’t bad compared to new stuff.
