post war whistle tender question did it come this way?

Hi, my brother an I went to a train store and bought what the guy referred to as a box of junk. well I live for junk and we had to have it. the box had many things but for now I have for your consideration this tender. I’ve never seen one like it with a whistle did it come this way or did someone cleverly build this thing?

Scott

Nope, looks like a homemade job to me. Looks like someone replaced the normally horizontal whistle motor with the other vertical style which I believe is a bit earlier.

Actually looking at it again, this tender might not have had a whistle to begin with.

Definatly homemade. This tender did not have a whitle. If it did have the horizontal as msacco said there would be a hole in the floor for the sound. This is the short Pensylvania tender whice never came with a whistle. You can also tell it’s aftermarket as there is a piece cut out for the whistle. In addition, the cut outs look to rough for facory work. Looks like an overall resoursfull job and (to me atleast) an improvemet for a relativly inexpensive tender. In addition, I believe the diecast trucks are an added improvement.
