This should be a sticky on each forum, it gets asked enough…

It would just be a lot easier to be able to post photos directly from your computer. Trainboard and Railroad Forums both allow this. I really don’t care to add more complications that aren’t necessary.
Allowing posting directly from your computer means that the owners of those forums needs to find room to store your images on their servers.
Given that most people have little or no clue about how to reduce an image in size, that means a potensial large comittment of disk space and longer backup time. As well as potensially having to deal with “fun” issues like being held responsible for people posting obscene or copyrighted images and whatever.
These forums allow you to link and display images inline with the text, as long as you (the user) has found somewhere else to store the images - where the storage for images is paid for by the user (either directly or by the user looking at ads from one of those places that offer “free” storage), not Kalmbach.
That works for me. Your mileage may vary.

Trainboard and Railroad Forums both limit the size of your photos. Adjusting the size isn’t all that difficult. Go to the photo and hit Edit Photo and then resize to fit the limit set by the site operator.
One forum I was on for a short time put a strict limit on the size of a photo. It couldn’t be over 97 Kb for a single photo and (get this) not over 141 Kb for a group of two or more photos. Needless to say there wasn’t much photo posting done despite much pleading by the admin to post them. The members requested numerous times that the limit be raised but were rebuffed every time. The forum folded a month or two later. I can’t imagine why.
I use photo bucket. It is easy to post photos and videos.

Is so easy, a cave man can do it, also geezers.
