Posting Pictures?

Can somone tell me how to post pictures here on the forums[%-)]

First they need to be stored on the web. If your ISP doesn’t give you space with your account, there are free hosting sites out there. Then you need to know the exact URL, that’s the name of the site where the photos are stored and the file name. If you just type that into your post you will have a link to the photo. If you use the [img] command the photo will just show automaticly.

Can someone point me in the right direction into whats wrong?

I don’t think the address is correct. Go to your photo on the web page, right click, and copy properties. List that as a link in your post, and we should be able to go to it. If that works, then you can set it up as an [img].

Yes I got it!!![:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Is this the one you’re trying to post?

The address you typed in worked when I put in my browser, so I could get to the photo. But what you need to put in the post between the img signs is the address you get when you right click on your photo and click on ‘properties’’

Try clicking on quote when reading this message to see what the final address looks like.

Regards

Ed

Sorry, looks like you got it while I was messing around with the reply.

Thanks for the help![:D][:D]

I’m not seeing anything but the dreaded RED X.

By the way Ed, thanks for helping John (der5997) with his photos yesterday. I’m OK with the basics, but some of the specifics of these different hosts get me.

Yes indeed, Ed, thanks again.
For anyone on railimages who hasn’t posted photos to a forum, or anyone thning of joining so as to post photos, What I had done wrong was to copy and paste a photo location link from my album. That URL had a /gallery/username component, and lacked a final .jpg after the photo identifier /xyz
The form of address that works for railimages that Ed found for me is

http://www.railimages.com/album/yourusername/xyz.jpg This needs the img symbol in square brackets in front with no spaces, and the /img symbol also in square brackets immediately after the /xyz.jpg I couldn’t put them in this post because the program thought that my generic address was an actual one, and went looking for “yourusername” 's album!

If you join railimages there is no fee. However, they keep going from advertizing revenue and DONATIONS from users. So, have a look at the ads from time to time, you may find something useful to buy, and think about a donation.[sigh]

Thanks John, now I think I see Heartland’s problem. Sorry I didn’t get it done for you, but Ed saved the day.

Final note, if /album/ doesn’t work, change it to /albums/ I’ve just put a photo on the “Realistic Scsenery” topic, and now I read what I wrote here, I can’t be sure if I typed in a singular or plural album when I did that pic in RS [][8]

Just been to the Coffee Shop, and there I see that it definitely is /albums/

Great work, Heartland Flyer, I cut and pasted the Instructions to notepad, and may post a pic or two later!
