Did I miss something somewhere, or can we no longer post a poll? [?]
I have not posted a poll in a . . . l o n g . . . time. I just noticed I didn’t see the option to post a poll though. [B)] [8]

Me too.
Well, let’s see, it’s not on the main page, but you can still do it on the MR forum, so I guess we all just got fed up with all the stupid polls.

All the polls at MR are the reason I quit going there.

Mabee we need a poll as to weather we need polls.[(-D]
Then again judging from this thread mabee we don’t.[swg]
Sorry Jim.
What’s wrong with polls- I happen to like them[^]
Isn’t the forum environment enough of a poll anyways? Not only can one voice one’s opinion, one has the ability to explain why one feels the way one does. Perhaps that’s a bit dangerous as it leads to a lot of the mud-slinging that occurs, especially when partisan politics are brought out into forumland.
I personally like the lack of polls here. I’ve been around other fora that included polling, and while a few were interesting, most were a waste of bandwidth. There’s a thread alive right now that’s a poll masquerading as a topic, involving 4449. The question was something like “Do you like 4449?” That’s just silly. What railfan would say no. And if that was a poll question, I would like to know the rationale behind someone saying “no” rather than just seeing that .07% of the people don’t like the 4449.
Nope, I think I can live quite contentedly without polls, and learn about other perspectives through peoples’ unabbreviated thoughts.
