Posting problem

I use Firefox version 5. I’m having a problem that occurs only on this site. When I click the ‘Reply’ button on a post the screen goes blank and the loading icon just keeps circling forever. I click the back icon and the screen goes back one then skips back to the blank screen. By clicking the back icon three or four times in rapid succesion I can eventually get back to the page I had been reading. I thought it might be a problem on my system but I checked on a system I have at my parents place and the same thing happens there. It also has Firefox 5. I’m having to use Internet Explorer to post here at the moment. Anybody else having this problem?

Not quite the same problem Jeffrey but sometimes when I try to go back from one section - say Layouts- to another like Electronics I get a lock up and have to exit and re-enter. A few times I have had to exit the browser and re-start it to get it to behave. I’ve switched to using Google Chrome and haven’t had these problems.

I get a similar problem occasionally–when I hit the ‘reply’ icon, my answer goes into Boldface and will not register. I have to get out of the site completely and then come back in. It only happens occasionally, so I don’t know whether it’s the site acting up or my computer deciding to go into “Diva” Mode, LOL!

Tom

Guess nobody else is having this particular problem.

Jeff,

I’m on Google Chrome and not having any problems.

Hope you get it figured out, pc issues can be frustrating [banghead]

I have IE9 and it’s been excellent.

As far as Firefox 5, Is it possible that they have a compatibility mode similar to the IE one for sites that haven’t been updated?

I think others have had this problem with different websites. I will have to do a little more looking at a different forum I am in. Think you might need an add on for Firefox 5. I am using FF5, but don’t seem to have the same problem. Firefox 6 is due out very soon, next month I believe. Will try to look for the add on for you.

Yes, I do have these problems on other webpages, but I have never had them on this website. I usually go on obscure websites. It just might be a virus. How many people have you tried to reply to? I use IE 8[Y]. It’s a little slow but usually get me where I want to go.

Seems to be an issue with Firefox 5 …http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/839338....in fact there seems to be quite a few people having that same issue with posting on certain forums.

I know that it had been referred to as ‘memory leak’ as some points…

I hope it’s as easy as an add-on. I got to the reply box this time but I had to click the back key quite a bit. For the last few days I’ve been using IE8.

I use FF 5, no issues here or anywhere else.

Jeff, I went back to the forum newsletters I receive, but couldn’t find anything on your problem. I must have dreamed about an add on or something to fix your problem. Sorry, but maybe FF6 will correct the error. Mozillia is going to be doing rapid updates similiar to what Chrome is doing now. Instead of large updates once or twice a year, they will be updating every 6 weeks or so, the way I understand it. Chrome updates itself automatically, from what I read. Hope you get your problem fixed soon

Charlie

Well I just downloaded Firefox 7 Aurora and I’m still having the same problem.

Hi Jeffrey.

I’m not having any problems like you are having but when I upgraded to FF5, I started having a printer problem. I can’t get to the second page of the Lexmark OPTIONS to do Black only printing or change to Landscape or change the print quality settings. I can only print in Mid Quality colour which drains the colour cartridge in a big hurry. At $84 for a twin pack with taxes, it’s getting old in a hurry. I know that it is not the printer as there are no problems printing with IE.

I hope that you get your problems fixed soon as I share your frustration with FF5.

Blue Flamer.

I have exactly the same problem, but my rig is old and it is not set up for ultra high-speed Internet. This site is very graphics-intensive, and sometimes it won’t work on slower machines until all the graphics and images are loaded.

No problems here. IE8 works great for me.
