Postwar Lionel Locomotive 674

Hi, am a newbie to trains and this website, I have a Post-war O Gauge electric locomotive with the number 675 on the sides of it. My objective is to restore it, purchase track, transformers, contactor, breakers and anything else that it needs. I have ordered a books on the process of doing the restoration, could someone tell me what AC voltage drives this particular locomotive?

I am really enthused about this project, so if my questions doesn’t make a lot of sense, be patient with the, as I said I am a newbie. The train set was purchased for me while a small boy by my father and hopefully I can get it up and going just as it did many years ago.

Thanks much for your input" border=“0” width=“25” height=“23” />

Traditional Lionel transformers generally have an output range that starts at about 5 or 6 volts and goes up to 16 to 24 volts, depending on the transformer.

I would look on ebay for a nice post war 1033 transformer. you should be able to find a mint one now for under $25. this is my favorite small transformer, I have about 4 of them. when you upsize to a ZW or the like the 1033 will be useful to power accesories or a seperate loop. I have a 2035 which is the same engine with magnetraction. they run well and very smooth. usually a good body off cleaning and lubrication is all you need. take pictures as you dismantle the engine so it will go back together correctly
