Postwar Lionel Set Questions

Hi Guys me again,

A friend of mine bought a boxed postwar Lionel set #19530.

I tried a few Lionel books but can’t find any info on this set.(uncataloged maybe?)

The contents are as follows,

#1062 2-4-2 Steam loco W/slope back tender

An unnumbered red flatcar missing the unknown load,(anyone know what was on this flat?)

Black Lehigh Valley hopper

and a #6167 red caboose

All the cars and tender trucks are the Timken plastic kind.

Any help you can provide about the date made,and the flatcar load would be appreciated.

PS, The set has the origional box too.

Need some more info on the items in the set, I am using Greenberg’s pocket price guide and it don’t list stuff as sets. Maybe the full size price guide lists sets but the pocket price guide don’t list sets.

Any way the 6167 red caboose is not worth that much, $9.00 if in excellant shape or $3.00 in good shape, the steam loco if the number is correct(1062) is worth between $12(good) & $27(excellant) and made in 1963 & 64, came with a 1062T tender. Also there are a few variations to the 6167 caboose, SP type, LL or UP, or painted or stamped, and these will also have an effect on its price. From what I can tell so far the set is from 1963 or 64.

Post War classification is limited to 1945-1969. Catalogued sets ran from #1000 thu around #13000.

The 1062 was only produced in 1963-1964. The slope back tender should be 1062T.

  3. 6409-25 Flat car w/ pipes. 1963 unnumbered red flat w/ 5 grey pipes. Shown in 1963 catalogue as part of set no. 11351*.
  4. 607-6100
  5. 6167 Caboose Produced 1963-1964

#11420 1964 5-Unit Steam Freight:

  1. 1062 Engine
  2. 1061T
  3. 6176 Lehigh Valley Hopper (unpainted) offered in 1964-1966, and 1969. (yellow or black)
  4. 6124
  5. 6167-125 Undecorated red caboose 1963-1964.

*#11351 1963 Land Rover Steam Freight:

  1. 237 Engine.
  2. 1060T Tender
  3. 6050-100
  4. 6465-100
  5. 6408 Flat car w/ pipes. 1963 unnumbered red flat w/ 5 grey pipes.
  6. 6162 NYC Gondola
  7. 6119-100 DL&W Work Caboose.

Best guess as to date would be 1963, based on the possibility of you having the 6408 or the 6409-25 Flat, only produced in 1963. The Lehigh Hopper was not introduced until 1964…so it’s a bit of a head scratcher.
