In this new Post War world, bomb shelters are a must have!!!
I think what’s hot in postwar has been the same for many years. Musts for me include: A turbine 671 or 681 A 2025/675 K4 (5?) steamer. One of the baby Hudsons (2056, 2055 etc.). A pair of early F3s (horizontal motors, 2344, 2354, etc). An early diecast base Alco (forget these numbers as I still don’t have one). Bershire steam (726). You could certainly extend this list to include GG1, FM Trainsmaster, but I think the examples above form a nice must have core of motive power. Now accessories and rolling stock are another story. Would have to agree with much of what Masco says. One thought, Lionel puts a lot of thought into the releases of the “Conventional Classics”. I think that if you were to look at the releases over the last few years, those would be a good list of if not most popular, certainly ones in very high demand.

I think that what is hot in PW Lionel hasn’t changed. Things like 773s, ZWs, and Santa Fe F3s just to name a few have been and will be continue to be in demand. Although the prices for some of the more common items have gone through the floor in some cases, the high ticket items really haven’t been affected.
As Frank Petruzzo said in one of Tom McComas’ videos about this hobby “The loner loses”. I certainly believe that is true in more ways than one about this hobby, and that the more opinions you get on something, the better off you are.
Sorry, I was first to respond and I regret the “sarcasm”. I was just looking for some clarification on the term “postwar”. I certainly could have said so more discreetly. As I have followed the serious responses, I have regretted my intial response more and more. No offense intended. My apologies.

Everybody has their own opinion but a 2046 with a 2046w tender, both in good shape and in good working order would be something to get and hold on to.
