Powder River basin

Can anyone provide me with a map of the powder diver basin and when did BN operate their Big Macs and what other locomotives operate and were helpers used?
Thanks in advance.

BN used mostly SD40-2’s but bought some SD70MAC’s for use in the Basin a couple years before the merger while the CNW used C40-8’s, Dash 9’s and AC4400CW’s.

Today UP uses AC4400CW’s and BNSF uses AC4400CW’s and SD70MAC’s (not much runs there besides that, even though its the busiest line in the US).

What dougal said is correct. The CNW also used alot of SD50’s and SD60’s in coal trains too. Also…Don’t forget that the powder river basin is a place HEAVY in DPU use.BNSFfan.

Altamont Press has a series of railfan timetables. Their one for Wyoming and surrounding states has a nice map of the PRB. The company is out of California and hobbyshops out west carry them.
