Power is everything...

I have a project

what I like to do is get some led’s

and power a few in my city with a solar cell

I also have an old yard light but the solar cell is in 4 sections and not charging the battery very well

but this one was $30 and I hope it works better

It may not be the Solar Charger, It could be that the Battery is just not capable of taking a good enough charge. Try putting the collector under a bright light for 12 hours or so, (a small halogen work light works for me), and then check the voltage that you get from the battery when it is under load.

If the voltage is not up to the battery rating, or just above, try getting some new rechargeable batteries and see if that resolves the problem.

You can get reasonably priced rechargeables in the Garden Lighting section of your local Home Depot or Home Centre.

I seem to get some charge but it looks like the leds are draning the battery, I tried to put a swich on them as the photo cell seems to need direct sun to shut them off

and when the swich is off that I added the battery will not charge

so today I turnerd one led off and left the other on

see what that gives me
