We have a power pack that’s currently being used on an HO layout. Can this also be used on an N scale layout, or are there voltage/amperage differences to think about ?
If it work for N it will work for HO, If it works for HO it will work for N,as well as Z.
Only if it’s a transistor pack! The internal resistence of an N scale motor is a lot different from that of the typical HO motor. So a rheostat made for controlling an HO motor typically will offer no control over N scale locos (or even more modern HO with high quality can motors). What usually happens is the N scale loco take soff at full speed when you just crack the throttle.
A transistorized power pack does not have this problem and the same one can be used to control DC motors in any scale, up to the output current limit of the power pack (can’t run a 4 amp G scale loco with a 1.5 amp power pack).
