I have a fairly good transformer Rail Tech I think, that I have been using for HO and am in the process of switching to S. Will this power supply work for S scale engines or do I need more power?

Check the power output of your power supply. (It should be on the data plate, in either DC Amps or Watts.)
Check the power required for the loco it will power - whatever scale that loco happens to be.
If the power supply can provide more power than the loco needs, no problem. If vice versa, it’s time for a new power supply. (Use the old one for scenery lights or for powering switch machines.)
Since a 1:64 scale loco with a can motor usually needs less power than older 1:87 locos with open-frame motors you should be in good shape.
