Power Supply Suggestions Needed!

All, My wife and I have a layout that’s 17’x4’. We are new so we are looking for a new power supply. Could you suggest any?

Thanks!

Hi! We need much more information…

“Power supply” typically denotes the power pack to operate a DCC layout. However, I suspect you may have a DC or even an AC layout.

Questions:

What scale layout do you have (i.e. O, HO, S, N, Z, or large gauge, Lionel, etc.)?

What are you currently using to power the layout?

How many locos, lighted cars, accessories, turnout motors, etc., etc. are you running?

Why do you believe you need a new power supply?

If you answer the above, I suspect you will get a lot of guidance.

We have HO and the smallest NCE. At least 7 turnouts.

The next question to be asked, do you plan on operating your switches from the DCC supply or direct wiring?

You still have told us very little. What do you want to do, control, expectations?

Please, a lot more infornation is needed.

I believe you have the NCE Power Cab. How many engines, sound, structure lighting?

Sorry for the lack of info  We want to use DCC woth our nce power cab. We would run a max of 5 locos at any onetime. We already have our layout chosen which is point to point. Thanks!

Are you looking for a new power supply, or a different DCC system? If you mean DCC system, I would suggest you look into the NCE PowerHouse Pro. I use their 5 Amp system on my home HO scale layout with two ProCab Radio throttles, and we have the same system at our large HO scale club with 4 additional 5 Amp boosters and four ProCab Radio throttles. During an open house I can take my two throttles to the club and use them there.

Since you already have a basic NCE system, you can still use it as a throttle with the PowerHouse Pro system.

If you just need an additional booster so you can have more power on the layout, look at the new NCE Smart Booster.

The best prices I have found on NCE equipment is Empire Northern Models in Webster, New York. Webster is where NCE products are made.

I feel really silly now. Are u telling me I could use my nce power cab to do most of this?
