I ordered a Shay engine from Micro Mark and some Kadee logging cars. Plus a few other things. Total cost about 600$.
Well, I ordered two months ago and they never showed up. So no shay for me. But here is the important thing! When I contacted Micro Mark they gave me a complete refund of all my money. Now that is good service.
But that means that my logging line is now postponed to some distant maybe.
How is MicroMark screwing up an order and then having to refund your money something to be praised for?? Or are you saying it was lost in the mail and you didn’t get it?[%-)]
If they never had sent I wouldn’t be praising them would I? They sent them and they got lost in transit, so they refunded me. I think that is great that a company just doesn’t blame the mail system and disregard me as a customer.
I have ordered from Micro Mark before and I always had good service. I get an email telling me the item is shipped. Then I can watch for the UPS truck. Sometimes I call and make sure they have the item in stock. With any online company, I specifically tell them to contact me if there is a delay or back order.
I assume they wanted to keep in your good graces by refunding your money. I do not know what scale you ordered, but Micro Mark is taking orders for some Shays with DCC & Sound. The Shays have not been released yet.
That’s beyond great! Too many companies would tell you to take it up with the carrier and wash their hands of you and your problem. The only thing I don’t understand is why they did not re-ship your order to keep the sale?
Nice to know MicroMark is service oriented. I want to place an order for some stuff too. [tup]
I’ve just ordered tools and other supplies from them: they’re a touch pricey, though they have frequent sales on some items. Also shipping is a bit stiff; saves to order as many items as you think you need to combine the shipping costs. Having said that, I’ve been happy with their service. Could have gotten an unlettered Bachmann USRA 2-6-6-2 around a year ago, but procrastinated and didn’t; others on this forum were happy with that sales purchase–my bad. So overall, I’d give them good marks.
They did offer me to send out replacement items. But if the original package shows up I would be stuck with two many things. Since I ordered two Shays for two friend as well I would have been stuck with 4 Shays personally. A lot more then I wanted. I could return the package but the customs would charge me anyways so that wasn’t worth it.
I think it was great of them to do this. I have ordered from them in the past so maybe that helped me. Perhaps they wouldn’t have trusted me otherwise. Another thing that might have effected them was the fact that they didn’t have any tracking number for the order.
I asked VISA what would happen if they couldn’t produce a tracking number and VISA said that they would then take the money back. So maybe, just maybe, Micro Mark knew that it was a likely outcome of any conflict.
But the point is, they did refund the money the same day, and that is great, their reason for doing it can I not be certain of. But I do know that I will order from them again.
Micro-Mark is a great company, and since they’re a few minutes away from me I was able to to find all sorts of discount goodies in their warehouse store until they closed it a few years ago. [:(]
As far as I’m concerned, that’s the sign of a company that really CARES about their customers. I’ve ordered a lot from Micro-Mark–mainly tools and accessories that I can’t get elsewhere, and I’ve had nothing but excellent service from them.
I’m very sorry that your shipment got lost in transit, but I’m glad that Micro-Mark treated you honestly and fairly. Believe me, in this day and age, good old-fashioned ‘Customer Service’ is something to be treasured.
What can I say! I agree. I think it was excellent of them. I think it is important to spread the good word and not always complain about when things go bad. They stood behind their product so to speak. I would guess that most companies expect a certain amount of loss of goods as a price of doing business.
Walthers did the exact same thing about a year ago. That order was for something like 1100-1200$ and they refunded what they didn’t have in stock. Keeps me coming back and it’s hardly bad for these companies to get some free advertisements on forums like this. Good companies should get our money.
I used to work at the local post terminal. The guys used to stand totally in the open and break open packages and check the content, if they found candy they would it eat.
I called the police about it since the bosses wouldn’t do anything(they where good friend with some of the guys doing it) but the cops did nothing. Despite the fact that their was atleast five people willing to testify about the main culprits the police just said no. We even had photographic evidence on destroyed packages but still, just no.
The post office wanted to install cameras, but that was a no no as well. It would violate the integrity of the workers if they where filmed while working so that wasn’t allowed.
Have I ever mentioned that I quit that job and started to study to become a teacher? I wonder why?
Well tampering with mail is a Federal offense not so much local, but the fact that they wouldn’t install cameras blows my mind. If they can install cameras at Burger King then you would think that they could at a post office. I think that we all should have a right to know what is going on with our mail…and metal detectors too, just in case…
I’m glad to hear though that Micro Mark took care of you, that makes me feel better about ordering from them in the future. Thanks for the post…
