I just got my PCM 06 product guide today. I looked at some of the prices in it and almost died of sticker shock! I thought P2K prices were high! These make P2K’s prices look like Bachmann’s prices by comparison. $400 for a PA2/PB2 set! Wow! I’ll stick with P2K.
That GN S-2 was pretty nice, though.
Might get lucky and win the stuff. Did like the pictures. Phil
I like the SW1500’s trying to figure out how to get 100.00
Perhaps most telling is the fact that the PCM catalog is this nice thick full color brochure compared to the thin, fold out poster that is Broadway. I wonder if the BLI brand is getting phased out in favor of the PCM brand?
I got mine yesterday. I looked it over - particularly the N-Scale stuff - checked the prices - I will tell you this, if I were a Pennsy fan I’d sure take advantage of the M1a/M1b regardless of the 250 smackers price tag - and I wouldn’t pay 100 smackers for sound if the put a Paris Hilton recording in each tender.
I did drool over the HO section - I’ve shed all my tears - next stop is File 13!!!
I got mine a few weeks ago. Very nice stuff, but very expensive. It does show the nice features on Pages 8-9. The only things I"m thinking of buying from them are the EMD SD7 and the EMD SW1500. Maybe if I save up money, I can afford the SP GS-4 4-8-4.
[wiping drool from chin] I was just checking out my copy that came today and I really like
what I see. The “sticker shock” is not too bad… considering the models. The brass Big Boy,
on the other hand… I would be scared to breathe on it!! I really am eyeing the Y6b, but until
I get the new layout up and running, I promised myself (and Nancy) that I wouldn’t make any
major loco purchases.
As for the BLI models, the E6’s and E7’s are looking as sweet as ever! I had better put this
catolog down before I do something crazy!![:-,] Dave
Yes, well…
I AM a Pennsy fan in N scale and have been HOLDING MY BREATH for a year now on that M1a/b, but no matter what estimated arrival date they announce, it never sticks. They just keep moving it and moving it, until now it’s just TBD. I want one in the worst way but they’re getting to be an empty promise.
Same for those E7s in N… I saw them at a show in DC in February, yet they’re still not on the market. PCM entered the market well over a year ago announcing they’d be the first company to build factory-sound-equipped N scale locomotives and they have yet to offer ONE for sale. Yet PCM is cranking out HO models in a market already saturated with sound-equipped engines.
I’ll believe it when I see it.

I find that sw1500 a good deal. I will get one in csx paint if I get the chance.
Reminds me of when I used to get my PFM catalog. Could you believe $65.00 for a brass steamer. My wife got me a three truck Shay and I thought I was in heaven. I think I will go back to work and get me some.
That PCM Big Boy looks awful nice, but money is an issue. As for that brass one, egad! The most beautiful piece of brass I’ve ever seen! I wonder how many people will actually get one…
The BLI poster was pretty good too. Sure do like that E7 in Pere Marquette paint, guess I’m gonna start saving up![:P][:-,]
I have my S-2 pre-ordered already. . . . . [:D] Now I’m trying to figure
out how to afford a second one. . . . . . [sigh][:I]
I really want that brass Big Boy in that catalog, but $2,995.99? Egad is right, 4884bigboy. I guess I’ll have to re-mortgage the house and take out a loan… but at least I’ll be able to say that I HAVE A BRASS PCM BIG BOY!!
