Does anyone have first or even second hand knowledge of the performance of this Loco? I am leaning toward a Kato Mikado but am intriged by the sound and decoder installed Precision Craft steamer but don’t need another poor perfroming N Scale steam loco. So far Bachmann and Atlas haven’t made the grade.
Thanks for any insite.

It doesn’t yet exist, so no data, no actual PCM N scale at all yet ,other than pre-production samples of the E-7 demonstrations at shows.
Hey PCM,
Here is a good opportunity to let us know what the deal is. The PCM website announcements haven’t been updated since 3/01/06. I for one have been looking for good pulling steam all over the place. I just spent a bunch of money on a brass steamer to get some decent pulling power in N Scale, from the looks of it I could have gotten 2 or 3 of the PCM,s. Y’all need to keep us a little bit better informed, otherwise we move our money to AVAILABLE locomotives, instead of the long delayed vaporware promises.

Thanks for the replies.
Maybe someone in the manufacturing business will see these comments and figure that there is a great need (Read Market!!) for quality N Scale steamers. It seems the only one listening is Kato!!

Gene,
Folks have been asking for quality N scale steam for at least 20+ years. A web page that has been ‘stale’ for only about 30 days is no big problem! PCM has released a HO Reading 4-8-4 and the many of the posts here have been positive about that new model. I hope it is a preview of of what is to come…

My concern is that PCM is hot and heavy on their HO offerings, but have not even come up with a date on the H2a hoppers ( I am very interested in a few dozen of these), and seem to be letting the N Scale stuff slide. Supposedly the E7’s are coming out next month and not a peep about them other than paint schemes in Feb. Nothing has been said about the hoppers since last year and they have been strangely quiet about the M1a’s for a good long time. It’s not that the website is stale, just that the N side is. They are currently 1 for 12 on USA HO Scale and 0 for 3 in N Sale offerings, the HO Bigboys were supposed to be out Mar 06. I understand that HO is probably serving a broader customer base so the number of offerings is in line. Also that production was moved on one of the models.
I’ve also noticed that Charlie Vlk of PCM has been pretty quiet about PCM recently too. He frequents a few of these forums and has posted recently on a number of other topics. So the company should be aware that there are potential customers out there that want to get a status update. I’m not trying to ruffle any feathers here in the forum, just at PCM to let us know what’s going on and if I need to look at holding onto some disposable income for their product line in the near future or spend it elsewhere. This due to the wife loosening the purse strings at unplanned and infrequent intervals.
