I’ve seen one on the test track, and it was very nice, although I didn’t time the chuffs with the wheel rotation or anything like that.
It is a unique prototype, but the T-1s got around a lot in excursion service in the 1960s and 1970s, so it can be plausibly run on a lot of different postwar layouts.
Mine developed a click of death as they say after a year of hard service. The horn is not exactly playable because it is a sound loop played for a specific time on command. It did pull 22 cars up a 3% without too much trouble. The sounds had to be modified very heavily to cut down on the excess noise and volume until individual sounds are clear but heard at shorter distances.
I give this engine 3.5 to 4 anvils out of 5. It was a good engine for it’s time.
Looks like Apache Server Internal error on both Broadway and FDT websites this morning.
Both sites are down as of this time from what I can see.
The sites comes and goes, must be experiencing some heavy traffic. I just placed an order for three Class J’s. 99$, that is insane, just yesterday I was looking at their factory outlet at some refurbished ones and was going to order one when the website went wrong. What a shame, that allowed me to get three for the price of one!
