Does anyone have any information on a prefab layout that goes under the tree for O gauge trains. I swear I saw something like this in a magazine, but can’t remember when or where.
Thanks…

Buckeye,
Look at my web page and see if your looking for something like this. If so, I will share the plans.

I believe I saw these in OGR near the back of the magazine. I wish I could be more specific but I’m like you I did see them.
Last year Trainscapes offered a molded plastic “tree skirt” layout. It was the shape of a mountain and included ski slopes, a short tunnel and a skating pond. I purcased an unfinished one and in less than two hours had a very satisfying result. I probably will sell it this year though as the a circle of 031 was just not enough for me, plus the fact that I felt a little guilty that I did not build my own from scrach. However for those with space constraints or those who want an upgrade from carpet central, this layout is not a bad way to go.
Thanks Notch… That is just exactly what I was looking for. It would be for my daughter’s new Polar Express.
Spankybird, it would be great to see your plans. I looked at your website and really think your layout beneath the tree is neat.
Just be careful how large you go with rolling stock. My 675 fit perfectly throught the tunnel, but my GP-38 did not. I think the Polar Express set will be fine, just be sure to test fit first. On the positine side the Plastic can easily be trimmed with a razor knife. Good luck!
