Puckdropper’s Place, Inc announced today the purchase of one box of 8 ft diameter Aristocraft track as well as 4 36 inch straight sections. This is one of the final steps in President Puckdropper’s goal to have trains running outdoors by Christmas.
Puckdropper’s Place also annouced an agreement with the Land Maintenance and Operations Manager (MOM), where if the railroad is unable to be maintained or operated, the right of way will revert to its original use.
Note: I have no intention of starting a newspaper this soon. I haven’t even got trains running! I may continue issuing press releases (perhaps through my website) as the need arises, however.

John, I’ll let Mom plant what she wants there. It’s right next to pressure treated lumber, so it’s probably not a good idea for me to plant edible garden plants there. To be honest, I really took advantage of her idea… She wanted something around the gazebo so she didn’t have to mow so close to it, and I suggested the train.
Torby, if you were closer I’d offer you the chance for a couple laps around the layout when it’s done. Going from Western IL to Eastern IN to run a LBG porter around a lap around an /obloid/ (Rounded Rectangle–see footnote) of track is a bit much, though. (5-7 hour trip, I’m sure.)
Note: “obloid” is a term suggested by a reader in Model Railroader during the 60’s or 70’s. He felt Rounded-rectangle was a mouthful, and thus suggested this word that’s no harder to say or spell than circle or square. If I come across this letter again, I’ll certainly make a note of the issue.

In that case i would suggest get a mowing edge in first that’s a row of pavers or strip of concrete or something similar that will allow a nice neat edge on the lawn, and keep the mower far enough away from the trains to avoid train mower conflict.
Suggestion two
If you have the plant profile book that came with one of the GR issues
accidentally leave it where MOM can find it[:D]
Not only will she be able to work out what will grow where you live but may well know of other plants that could work well.
You need a collaborative effort to blend the two the railway and garden together
as a cohesive unit that works, so far my efforts in that area are not good[:(]
So I am definitely not the one to offer any advise in that department.
But that’s what you need to aim for and it doesn’t take much to see what works and what does not.
