Press Release

Press Release - April 15th, 2008

The General Superintendent of the Milwaukee Road’s Pecatonica Division has announced that a large signaling project will be started this summer. Automatic Permissive Block(APB) signaling will be installed on the ‘Pecatonica Division’. Work crews have been out on the line preparing the ROW for detection devices and wayside signal bases for the future installation of the signals(drilling holes in the 1/2" sub roadbed).

  • Logic Rail of Houston, TX has been selected to supply the electrical logic equipment.
  • Tomar Industries of Benton Harbor, MI will be supplying the ‘Type D’ signals.

Negotiations with several ‘on line’ and ‘local’ dealers is to be completed shortly. Financing was to be done through the Federal Railroad Administration(FRA) loan program, but there seems to be little prospect of getting any money out of that fund(the DM&E came up dry there a few years ago).

The ‘Economic Stimulus Act’ will be used to fund this project. We are proudly investing this money in America for ‘infrastructure’ improvements to provide faster train handling over the division with increased public safety.
