Just bought a restored #612 steamer and have a few questions.

  1. Does this engine run on AC current?
    2, If so are there any safety issues around the use of AC?
  2. What transformer would I need?
  3. Will this run on Lionel 3 rail track?

Yes, 3-rail Flyer runs on AC current and runs just fine on Lionel track. It would be best to use a reconditioned postwar or modern transformer with a circuit breaker with it.
