Primer units on the NS

Is the Norfolk Southern ever going to paint those primer units???

When they get the time and also have the time to spare for them to go into the shops.

Paint jobs cost anywhere between $15,000 and $27,000 per unit.

Right now, those engines are needed out on the Railroad…when time allows, they’ll be painted…On NS’ orders of SD70M-2’s, the vast majority were painted prior to delivery as assembly was farmed out to sites around the country. Some have been sent to Juniata in Altoona for painting. The GE ES40DC’s are being delivered in primer. There are 150 new ES40DC’s of which a handful have been painted…The first 15 delivered a couple of years ago have all been painted…Also, some Dash-9’s are still running around in primer

I even have now heard that UP even has one unit running around in primer right now as well.

Yes, it was wrecked while on the NS. For some reason they repaired it but did not paint it. It is being returned to NS for painting.

That would explain it!

Hope these show up.I can’t get them to go bigger when you click on them.Any ideas why ? I took the NS 7516 last year, and the NS 2766 when I had it on a train out of Portsmouth last month.[:)]
