I wanted to send a private message to someone on the forum, but could not find where to do this. Have these featrures been removed form the forum?? [*-)]
No, it’s called “start a conversation”. See the lower right corner of the posting window.
Is a conversation like a chat? Both parties need to be online?
It is also on the right side of this page titled Conversations.
And, if you click on the member’s screen name, the Start a Conversation link appears.

No, it is just like email. You send a message to another member. The member sees the message in his “inbox” and responds when he is on line.
When a Conversation is started or responded to, the recipient of the message sees a number after the Conversation link on the right side of the page. The higher the number, the more messages he has yet to read. The sender of the message can track it by clicking on the Conversations link.

One thing I just noticed is the E Mail link is gone.

An important change for some of us is that you can no longer modify a conversation post once it is submitted. Once you click on “Post”, it had better be exactly what you want to say, including in hindsight.
what about “More → edit” … or has that been nuked in the last few hours…
edit – nope, it’s still there [;)]
“Edit” is there in the “more” menu once you have posted to the thread.
Edit: So is Delete, they are not listed in the menu before you have made a post.
Starting a conversation is both a PM and email, you are notified by email that you have recieved a message, (just like the old email notification) and you get a link back to “Conversations”, however you can also go to Conversations and have a real-time conversation if both paticipants are in “Conversations”. I think that’s how it works.[:-^]
