I know this is more of a NCE problem than a Lenz but since I use a lenz set 100 I was hoping for some help.
I just wired up ditch lights on an SD40-2 but have some confusion on how it is supposed to be wired. The Ditch lights work fine but wont stay on just flash. I wired as follows:
Output 1 white wire … Headlight
Output 2 yellow wire… Rear light
Output 3 green wire … Right Ditch Light
Output 4 Violet wire… Left Ditch light
Blue wire I wired Common to all lights and used the Appropriate resistors.
When you read the instructions in the Nce manual it says for Ditch lights use outputs 2 and 3 …But in the How to do it paragraph it says to Program outputs 3 And 4, I have assumed that the 2 and 3 comment was a misprint. I gave CVs’ 122 and 123 56 & 60 like it says then I gave CV36 a 12. Then Set CV 35 to 0
What did I miss??? Has anyone else programmed on of these to do ditch lights??

Program the decoder according to the instructions at the top of page 4 of the decoder manual. The wiring should already be in accordance with these instructions, so don’t let that confuse you.
I’m not familiar with the Lenz system, but perhaps it can’t program the higher numbered CVs that need to be changed in the NCE decoder? Check the Lenz documentation on that. Perhaps one of the changes didn’t take, and going through all of them again will solve the problem.
There’s no misprint. The lights are typically referred to as F0F and F0R, and the next function is F1, then F2, etc.
However, since the outputs are completely remappable on this decoder, they call them outputs 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. By default out of the box, Output 1 is F0F, output 2 is F0R, output 3 is F1, and output 4 is F2.
The isntructions on page 4 of the manual are the correct CV settings to create ditch lights activated with the F2 key. I looked at the current manual on the NCE web page and the numbers int he text do match the numbers in the tables, so follow those steps and it should work. Unless there is an issue with Lenz programming CV numbers like 122. If none of the settings has been programmed, F1 should turn one light on and off, and F2 should turn the other one on and off.
