I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if anyone has a solution. Every time I go to the site, I have to log in (yes I have “remember me” checked). I select a forum to to view and when it comes up, the “welcome back” is gone and in its place is the log in box. I log in again, but it doesn’t last long. It will disappear when I select a thread to view or another forum to go to. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, I can get to view a few threads before I get booted out again. HELP!!! An attempt to look at ,y Forum Alerts also got me booted out.
I’m using Safari on an iMac and have never had this problem until today and I’m on the forums 2 or 3 times a day.
Thanks for the suggestions. My browser doesn’t have a “save passwords” option, and the choices for cookies are “always accept”, “never accept” and “accept only from sites I visit”.–what it’s set for. I’d like to decide who I want to save a cookie from. I think the problem might have been too many saved cookies. I deleted them all and after 2 days I’m not having any more problems. We’ll see how it goes as time goes on. I couldn’t believe how many more cookies I had accumulated after only 2 days. I might try setting it to “never accept” and see if it will ask me what I want to do.
There were all sorts of glitches, including terribly loooooonng page loads a few nights back, which I reported up the chain. Turns out they had swapped out a server for a new one, and then the server does back-ups late at night. Between those two events, I guess this is what we see.
I noticed the long page loads too. So maybe it wasn’t my problem, but that cookie cache needed cleaning anyway. “Never accept” won’t work, it blocks all cookies period. I’ll just have to clean them out once in a while. I can’t believe how many cookies get deposited with a little web activity.
One other consideration is your connection to the internet service provider. Are you on a cable modem, satellite service, or dial-up modem over a phone line?
I had an identical problem these past several days and it was finally resolved through emails with a very friendly person at Kalmbach’s/Model Railroader Service Center.
To solve my problem I deleted all the cookies from Kalmbach/Model Railroader found in my browser—Safari. I then closed and reopened the browser and my problem was solved. The service technician felt I may have had an old ‘corrupted’ cookie that was somehow interfering with my log-on problems.
I’ve got the same browser as you–Safari–and that’s what I did too–deleted all the cookies. There seemed to be a million cookies in the list, most of them from sites I’ll never visit again. However, according to a recent post in this forum, they are having some bad server problems and I’m sure that was at least part of the issue. Oh well, all’s well that ends well.
