My Paragon PRR m1b has a broken axle gear. Does anyone know if BLI still support these older Paragon locomotive or am I better off sending it to the local model shop to see if they can repair it… Really disappointed that the locomotive gear broke just after 10 hours of operation pulling just 15 reefer cars. The gear has a crack tuning from the teeth down. I try super gluing it back but it didn’t work and the locomotive still make a clicking sound.
Send an email to BLI Customer Service or call. I always had good support from them when needed.
Good luck
Second the call or email to BLI.
And, don’t run it for long with said cracked gear… That will come apart and begin to damage others…
BLI has been very good with standing behind their units for me at least.
I Third the suggestion to call (or I just emailed) Broadway.
I ran two of my PRR I1sa engines recently and found cracked gears. I did not want to mess around with quartering and pressing wheels on or off.
BLI gave me three options.
- They’ll send me 2 gears, free of charge. 2) If I send them the wheel assemblies they would install the gears for me [tup] or 3) send them the engine (s) and they would make the repairs at their flat fee.
I chose #2 and I even sent them a check for return postage. I got the wheels back about six weeks later and they returned my check, too.
I got the engines reassembled and they run just fine. Fortunately, BLI supplied a little nut driver in the original box for swapping out the non traction tire wheels.
This nut driver is needed for the crankpin screws. Take photos as you disassemble the running grar and pay attention to the eccentric crank position and spacers before you start. It is keyed but you do have to be careful with the side rod/main rod reassembly.
Good Luck, Ed
So yea I e-mail BLI and waiting for a reply this morning
