Hello all, last year my dad got my son a RailKing RealTrax train to go around the Christmas tree. This year he got some crossing gates and an ITAD unit to trigger it. I was trying to wire the unit up and cannot figure out how to get power to the gates. The ITAD unit says it can run power off of the track, but there are only 3 terminals on the unit, NO, NC and common. There are also two terminals that are marked auxilliary power input, but I would think these are for power in, not out. The crossing gate has a white, yellow, blue, black and red wire. According to the instructions the white and yellow wires go to the NO/NC terminals, the blue wire is unused (because it is an ITAD and not a TAD) and then the red and black wires go to the red and black terminals on the power lockon. Neither instructions say how to wire it up to use the ITAD as the power source off the track. Help!!
Hi nathansdad,
Welcome to the CTT Forum
If you have the RailKing ITAD and not the Premier one, it can receive power from the track when you clip it on. The other choose is to power it from fix.
The gates also need power. Some people have added a power lockon and connect the gates to that, which then they run from track power. The other way is to have the gates powered from the accessory output from your transformer.
If this is a RTR set, you most probably do not have an accessory output on the transformer, so try the track power.

Ok, so I guess my real question is, can I run power to the gates from the ITAD itself or do I need a separate lockon to power the gates?
No the ITAD only has input connections, not output.
YOu could run wires from your lockon to the gates. It would be the same as using track power.
