Progress report (with pictures)

I have finally started to lay down some Midwest cork roadbed. I’m very satisfied with the result. It helps me to smooth out the imperfections of the masonite splines. The result is a very smooth roadbed to lay my Micro Engineering track on. I use latex caulk to glue the cork roadbed to the masonite splines. I also want to thank a very special friend on this forum that are helping me with everything I need. You know who you are.

I always look fwd to your progress, very nice work.

May I make a suggestion?

Before you start running trains, get an old bed sheet and staple it beneath the tracks to catch trains as they fall. Nobody’s trackwork is perfect the first time, and all that open benchwork could be fatal to engines or rolling stock.

Once the scenery starts growing around the track, I think this is going to be spectacular.

Electolove, I am sure you know this but in case you don’t. Sand the roadbed with a sanding block and 80 grit sand paper before you add track. Where the raodbed side meet are normaly not level. Will all so smooth out any dips you made have in the wood work.

Looking good.

[#ditto] I was going to suggest the same thing, but Ken beat me to it. I like to use a Surform block plane / file. Save the cork crumbs for modeling gravel, or for those modeling a seashore, barnicles.

Thank you guys for your nice comments and suggestions. Really appreciated.
