I am new to model railroading and live near the Progressive railroad here in Lakeville Minnesota and I want to use in my layout. Where can I get a track plan to use?
first step would be to go to their website http://www.progressiverail.com/ . i found a map

but from there you’re pretty much on your own , you’ll have to design a trackplan (or find someone else to) to fit the space you have available . at least you’re close to the prototype so you can observe it in person

hmm the index was the first place i checked . what did you search for ? when i enter ‘progressive rail’ i get 3 articles on progressive cab control .
i looked up the article , nice switching layout , looks like it would be fun to operate , especially if the connection to CP was extended to staging
Is the trackplan available on this site? Or do I have to go in the attic and look through my box of back issues?
I think I may have done a title text search on “progressive”. The reporting marks have not been entered in the index. I sent an email mentioning the omission, probably woud not hurt for somebody else to send one, too.

I live along Progressive Rail in Richfield, I think it would be a good railroad to model…however, could be wrong, but I don’t think anyone makes decals for it yet??
I recomend that 2002 article if you want to Model the line. Jim Hediger did a really good job of going in dept for the operations of the line, and I think he even designed a layout track plan based off the real thing(I could be wrong, it’s been a while since I looked at it). If you want to model the line, that’s the article.
Of course if you want to model a PGR spin off, there’s the New Wisconsin Northern that is run by Progressive rail. It runs through Rice Lake and Cameron WI. But no one has done an article on them yet, they are only new to this year…

Dose anyone know what shade of bule PGR (Progressive Rails report markings) uses?, and is there something close to it in scale paints?

If you live near it, go out and take a firsthand look. Take photos, and draw up your own map of the tracks you see. Why hope and search that someone else has already done it, when you have the ability to see the tracks yourself and do your own mapping? You will then also have a plethora of reference photos of each location which helps with the specific layout and appearance of tracks and buildings
Another useful tool is satellite and/or overhead imagery from map sites like Bing and Google.
Once you know what the real thing looks like, you will have to decide what to include, what to shrink and what to omit since you’ll be unlikely to be able to fit everything into a layout, unless it’s a large layout of a very small railroad.
