Project railroad: Paint a tabletop
Great info, I need help on setting up a turn out diagram on a large layout
32 by 16 with over 30 turnouts.
I want to build upper level truss’s on piers for about 40 feet and it is too expensive to buy that much. Is there a company where I can buy a for a reasonalble price parts so I can build an I beam type sides.
Thanks for your help.
I really like the D-146 project railroad. Can you give a more specific paint brand and color recommendation? I’m concerned I’ll go through some trial and error and would like to bring home from the hardware store a shade to replicate what you’ve done and that looks close enough to a true display layout. So, there’s something like a ‘desert tan,’ and ‘avocado green’ but you also have the color simulating ballast and roadways … a flat latex? And, what specific colors?
Another thought on the D-146: I want to replicate the Lionel display layout, but wonder about track directly on plywood? I want to be “authentic” to the display layout so plan to go that way (and not add visually different looking roadbed/ballast). I suppose an alternative is making it on Homasote. Any other ideas on this?
