- With 2 basically same tenders I cut the ends off of one and cut out the part where the higher part slopes down to the lower part on the 2nd tender. A few pictures shown are of it kind of placed together but not finished. I only have hand tools to use for this and don’t have a sander or other better equipment to use. Cut lines are not 90 degrees or exactly straight. Is there such a thing as a plastic glue that is black? Or is there something I can fill the gaps in with and paint over once it is put together?
Couldn’t insert photos. Its the tender used up into the 70s that is rounded on the top. Anyone know how to get photos inserted here?
There’s a trick for getting two pieces to match without having to make precise cuts: Cut them as best you can. Then butt the pieces together and hold them in position. This is the hardest part and may require making some sort of jig. Cut through the seam again. Move the pieces closer together to close up that kerf. Cut again, repeating this cycle until the two mating surfaces match.
The board software doesn’t make it easy. You have to upload your photo to some online source such as Photobucket, then drag and drop your image into your message.
I used testors model glue on my stretched tender. and simple auto body filler to cover the seams. I did a 2046 type tender, turned out decent for a first effort. use it behind my 736. turned out to look more like a Reading tender though. I’d like to do a stretched NYC tender next.
