Sounds like a good thing. I don’t understand why you can build roads virtually everywhere, but double tracking a railroad is considered a serious environmental issue that must be passed by every NIMBY from California to Florida.
There is ‘light at the end of the tunnel’, perhaps. Disbanding the EPA would be a great leap forward.
So the government is being asked to ignore the stupid environmental rules they put in place themselves! Paul Harrison (two comments below) is most correct: no hassles to pave Paradise but adding a rail siding or new tracks are looked at as an environmental disaster.
