I’m one of them there “Liberals” (or Communists as Senator Allen West of Florida says), hence I am on the side of the protesters. You might think it’s OK to export the coal but we’ll get the emissions back. Scientists have shown that some of the haze over the Grand Canyon is particulate matter from China. Now if you don’t believe in science then there is no problem for you. If on the other hand you care about your kids, grand kids etc., then it’s a problem.
The really bad part is that about 15% of the class I railroads revenue is hauling that poison.
I am thinking like DS from Wisconsin. I don’t like the fact that there is air pollution from electric power plants but unless everyone is ready to give their hybrid car back to manufacturer, etc, move into a cave or under a buffalo skinned tepee and club animals for food we need sources of electricity and petroleum. Better they should protest the poor use of energy by allowing cars and trucks when fuel efficient trains could haul the load!!

How do they plan to stop “only coal trains” without stopping all the other trains? Are they going to build sidings for the coal trains?
Calyton Brown raises a good point. There just ain’t no such thing as a ‘clean’ coal train! Everything needs to go by rail, wherever possible. But coal, and trains that carrying them, is a disparity that will not endure.

Go to China and set in front of one of the power plants, by the
way the US has very high standards for burning coal but still
the US does not not use the coal resources it possesses, so
it is sold and used elsewhere.
Too bad the protesters don’t put there money where there mouth is. Anti-energy protesters should pay more in there electric bills. Put in a questioner, do you support;

If no you will be assessed an appropriate fee! We would see a lot of activist stop activating after that!!
