Hello,
Does anyone know where I can find lameman wiring diagrams to wire a Proto 1 board into a Williams F-7 locomotive or any Williams as they are all the same inside. A diagram with pictures would be nice if possible. I found it is cheaper to get a locomotive off Ebay and just gut it for what you need than trying to find Proto 1 boards themselves. Any help would be appreciated.
Kevin
Although the Williams F-7 circuit before Bachmann may look like the MTH PS-1 and have QSI label on the circuit board, it is Not a PS-1!! If your Williams F-7 has a PS-1 board for sure, it is a self/done attempt at adding in PS-1. QSI corporation made circuit boards for both MTH (PS-1) & Williams and they are differant in the functions they have.
I think you misunderstood, I have a PS 1 board I want to transplant into the Williams F-7. I need information on how to do the transplant. I like my F-7 better than the cheapo MTH the board is in now and I will put all the Williams stuff into the MTH locomotive so I can use it in conventional mode.
Thanks,
Kevin
I can tell you a few basics about Williams & MTH, but can not tell you how to wire it. Both MTH & Williams use D.C. can motors, so you need something to convert the A.C. power, usually inside the circuit board, which would be a bridge rectifier or rectifier circuit.
It’s just a 4 wire hookup if you look carefully. The two power wires from the boards to the chassis & center rail collector on the MTH go to the same place on the Williams. The two motor wires(4 for dual motors) from the boards on the MTH go to the same motor connection(s) in the Williams.
The bigger challenge will be to mount the circuit boards neatly in the Williams and locate the speaker.
