Trainworld has a special on powered A/B pairs of FM C-Liners,and I’m very tempted. Does anyone out there have any opinions on them, and how they compare to the 2000 line?
Thanks,
Nelson

P1K engines have basically the same drive parts as the P2K line. Some of them are not quite DCC ready(no plug). The detail/paint is good, but they usually have molded-on handrails and not as many seperately applied detail parts. I have a FM ‘Erie Built’ , a pair of RSC2’s and an ABA set of phase 2 F3 engines from the P1K line - all are nice running.

The P1000 C Liners are a bit wierd as far as the P1000 vs P2000 goes. They have stand alone details you need to add (hand rails) rather than molded on ones (like other P1000). On P2000 these would have been applied at the factory. I guess they should have been called P1500 [:D] (At least that is the ones sold in Canada, not sure if this is true about the American ones [?] )
I have several A and B units and they are very good. Detail is excellent and they run very nice. No regrets here in buying them.
Thanks for the answers. I thought the handrails must have been packaged separately because the photos on Walthers site showed nothing molded on, but holes where they should go.
Too bad they didn’t offer the 5 and 6 axle versions. Those 5 axles would make you Canadians happy. [:D]

5 axles are on the way! But CP did not use them, only CN here in Canada so I am not jumping up and down. Now if they put the drive into a H-16-44, THAT would make me happy [:D]

I higly reccomend getting them! With the better-than-most-P1K standalone details, they look great, and they run great. I have an ABA set, and they have been doing their duties wonderfully since I got them three years ago!

Sorry for the bad lighting and colours on the first one, and the small size of the second one!

They look great. Trainworld has powered A&B sets for $60.

I saw the 5 axle CN engines in the two color schemes at an area show on Saturday, the dealer had just received them on Friday. Look nice in the box, but the $155.00 CDN price made me lose interest. I’ll wait and see if they’ll come down in price. The four axle Canadian versions have been selling for around $90.00 CDN. So the addtional axle would cost $65.00 more!
