Hi everyone.
I`m looking for replacement gears for a 4 unit Fa/Fb-1 set in READING CO.
They are the axle gears that join the two half axles.
Evidently they were made by Athern and after time they would crack and cause the wheels to come out of guage.
I am looking for a QUALITY set of 16 for my Fa/Fb-1 set in READING CO.
Any help is very much appeciated.

The proto2k gears were not made by Athearn, Athearn gears have never had a problem with splitting/cracking. The P2K gears were copies/clones of the Athearns but made of different type of plastic that was prone to splitting and this was only an issue with the earlier 4 axle units from LifeLike/P2K.
Walthers is honoring the LifeLike/P2K lifetime warranties and will replace the gears if you contact them by phone or email, (phone is quicker).
the confusion lies in that the Athearn Gears will fit and work as replacements for the protos, but as MM51 stated the proto gears were NOT made by Athearn.
