Has anyone had problems with Proto 2000 trucks. I’ve got an E7 that has a short in the trucks, haven’t taken it apart yet but was wondering if anyone else has had problems with them.
Nope, although I’ve heard of gear-cracking in early P2K diesels.
I have a pair of E7s and had one of the chassis replaced under their Life time
warranty.
If you wish you can return the chassis. Depending how long you owned it
and if you returned the registration card it may only cost you $0.00 or tops
$5.00 for their handling fee over 90 days.
don’t say this. i just got 2 P2K GP7s and i might be getting another one.
Yeah, tell me about it, I’ve now got 6 units sidelined with cracked gears, and frankly, no time to do anything about them![:(] What’s ironic is that it’s mostly Alco’s in the dead line, while my Geeps (Atlas and P2k) keep running.
Art imitating life???[:I]
I had a similar problem with an old BL-2 P2K model developing an electrical short in one of the trucks and melting the plastic parts. I telephoned LifeLike and they sent me a replacement truck at no charge – they even paid for the postage. The lady I spoke to said that P2K products carry a lifetime warranty. Give them a call and see if you can get a replacement truck. It would help if you have the documentation handy and know the part number.
Thanks for the help, never thought of contacting P2K, This is an early E7 and my PA just did the same thing. Replaced the trucks with ones from an E7 that took a dive off the layout and destroyed the body, works fine now but can’t see a thing wrong with the bad trucks. Hope to do the same with the PA.
Its not just the early P2Ks that have this problem…i have and SD60 that craked 2 gears in the rear truck…but LL was nice enuf to send me a new truck…and they did pay for the postage…they are great people
