I have absolutely no I dea what this is all about.
All I can say is that this community, like the creations of George Sellios and Malcom Furlow, would not be places I would ever want to live in should I find myself either shrunk down to 1/87 or if the work of these two aforementioned modelers were expanded out to 1/1.
Bruce - thankful for my small plot of land[:)]
Hey, as we have always been fond of saying… “There is a prototype for everything!”
And George, fine modeler that he is… got the colors just right too!
Jim
I always thought some of George’s buildings reminded me of the movie set from “Popeye”.
Great modeling but, over done in some areas.
While the photo does bear a resemblance to Malcom Furlow’s creations, it is a far cry from the work of George Sellios. He has (or used to have) many structures crowded together as in a large city, but I don’t think he did the vertical type stuff as shown. Similar to some stuff that Lane Stewart did in the Gazette.
Gentlemen, I recognize the location in this photo. This is one of the five towns in the Italian region of Cinqueterre; loosely translated to mean the five lands. Along the Lingurian coast are five fishing villages built into the sides of cliffs overlooking their own sheltered harbours. Until very recently there were no roads serving these villages, only walking paths. The one unique feature of all of these villages related to the hobby of MRR is the Italian railroad linking the villages along a cliff hanging right of way with many tunnels. Each village has a RR station some of which are located in tunnels. If you cared to model this set of towns, and I am sure some Italian hobbyist indeed does, it would make a challenging project. Seacoast, cliffs, villages and high relief right of way. Passenger trains are the principle services both slow locals and fast through-trains. There is also some minor freight delivered to the towns. The Ciqueterre in Italy is a great holiday spot for a few days; there are beaches within reach of the railway and the seafood is super. The train route from Genoa along the coast to the Cinqueterre should be on the list as a great journey for railfans. cheers, Fred
Yes, I mentioned that in a thread a while back - there’s a definite “Sweethaven” connection!!

Someone enjoying themselves with the “saturation” control???
