Prototypical HAZMAT by rail info

I'm not sure how many people here dig through federal laws concerning hazardous materials shipments (I'd imagine not very many) but I was and found an interesting section on shipments by rail.

http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_06/49cfr174_06.html

The whole section is interesting but take a look at 174.85. It shows the regulations regarding where tank cars can be placed in a train (no nearer than 6 cars from the engine/caboose, tank car may not be put next to a flatcar etc.)

This section probably has more info than you ever wanted to know but there is some good info in there if you ever wondered why railroads do things certain ways in regards to tank cars.
