PRR 5-Stripe Decal

Any tips on applying the classic PRR 5-stripe gold decal across the nose and number boards of an O-scale F-unit? I approach the task with fear and trembling.

PRR “F” units had single stripes. Five stripes were reserved for passenger power.

Well, okay, fine. On my model of the PRR, this F unit has five stripes. I’ve got an F3 and a set of 5-stripe decals, and I’m determined to get the two together. The number boards almost bisect the stripes. A fellow on another forum suggested cutting the decal at the number board and applying it in chunks. Any other suggestions?

I, too, saw the reply in the other forum and his suggestions were excellent. If you do not want to cut and splice the decal, you could make a template of paper, cutting and fitting the paper until it lies flat on the surface of the nose and then transfer its shape to the decal sheet. By flipping it over, the template should work for both sides.

Hi Gregg. I had a feeling it was you when I read your post, even before I saw the reply with your full name. It’s my first visit to this forum site, it’s a little cumbersome. I’ve also seen posts from Robert(MOPAC1). Any other Atlas forum refugees around here? If you get a chance, drop me an e-mail at charles.j.devine@icn.siemens.com.

That’s a good idea; thanks. And I apologize if my remark came off sarcastic or smarty-mouth. I felt bad about it later.
