PRR Congressional and Senator Interiors

I have just received my order of Union Station sides for these Budd corrugated cars with Train Station core kits. These will make into an outstanding consist for these two trains. Before I assemble them, I need to know the interior colors, wall, floors, seats, and window shades, etc.

These consists included coaches, parlors, diners, etc. depending on whether it was for the Congo or the Senator.

The floors were beige and the curtains were a silvery white with red white and blue in the pattern. I think the seats were a light green.

Thanks PRR fan.

On one web site it shows that the exterior of the window shades were a greyish light green. The pictures are too small to discern exterior details.

I can’t tell if there was small fluting above the windows with a letterboard attached for the extended P E N N S Y L V A N I A lettering or whether there were no corrugations and the Tuscan stripe was end to door with the lettering centered on it.

Any ideas as to what Microscale decal set would be right for these?

Also, what color were the trucks?

Blinds from the one color picture I have are about an apple green. The trucks are black and the area above the window is not corrugated so the Tuscan band and lettering are applied directly to the car. the name board and number boards on the bottom sides of the car are welded on flat pieces. Lettering appears to be standard PRR passenger car lettering so any decal set for passenger cars should do. Early on the cars all had Pullman at the end of the Tuscan band. Later it was changed to PRR when Pullman was disbanded. In the final and ugly scheme the car name and numberboards were retained and the Tuscan stripe was removed and replaced by a big Keystone on the car and car type in a little square at the end. Background color for all this was touledene red. Same as the keystones. Some of the walthers Budd cars are acceptable as Congo and Senator cars.

Thank you kind sir. It is as I surmised. I am doing the as built 1952 version. Is there a paint chip for that red color. I thought it might be Tuscan Red.

yes the PRRT&HS offers them. Color is very subjective however. Variations don’t bother me as long as they are close because they oxidized naturally and were never new very long.

I am modeling the Senator as built in 1952 and running on the New Haven 1952 through 1956. I am not concerned with fading or weathering as these cars were vary well maintained. I am thinking of using ScaleCoat II Tuscan Red for the broad stripe and lettering it with Microscale decal set 87-891 for Pennsylvania Railroad Tuscan Red Pass. Cars.

I will be priming the stainless steel areas with Scalecoat II gloss black and finishing with Alclad Chrome paint.

I am guessing that the red seats were actually burgandy as was used on the P-70 coach seats. I will probably have to mix a little blue into Caboose Red to attain that shade of red.

I am trying to locate the HO antimacassars that were produced by the NE Region of the PRRT&HS.

Still trying to find out what trucks were used and whether they were the same for the coaches as the parlors.
