PRR Hutchinson Branch line South-Western PA

To Any one out there I’m looking for more info. on the branch line that went to the Hutchinson Mine In that town, I grew up in the area ( Madison ) I’m bulding an HO layout 16 x 30 ft 1950-60 era & I would like to model the Hutchy Mine. I know the branch came off near Sutersville & worked it’s way to the mine, & I think it continued on to Wayno / Yukon to other small mines in the area through 1950’s. Any info would be of great help !!

Welcome to the forums.

You might want to try the Prototype section of these forums or go to Trains forums for the information you are looking for. Hopefully someone there knows or knows where you can get the info.

Good luck,

Richard

Hank.

Have you tried the PRR T&HS. They have a prototype discussion group forum. On the left side click on Discussion web and register for a log in password. It is free but has some restrictions on content.

Exactly where in SW PA? I’m from Washington Co. and am familiar with Greene and Westmoreland Counties too…

Googling for Hutchkinson Westmoreland railroad, I find this page: http://patheoldminer.rootsweb.ancestry.com/hutchinson.html

Seems to have some images, a cutout of 1954 topo map showing where the railroad ran and so on and a few other things.

You can see more historical topographic maps for Pennsylvania here: http://historical.mytopo.com/townlist.cfm?stateabr=PA
