Hi all,
The thread on dressing up car interiors with a little bit of paint has me wondering.
What are appropriate colors for the seats and partitions in PRR fluted side cars? I’m not interested in exact colors, just approximations.
Thanks,
Alvie.

Hello Alvie,
I’ve searched like crazy but I haven’t come across any interior photos of the streamlined Pennsy cars. One suggestion that worked for me recently is for you to “Post” your question on the TRAINS Forum. Some of the posters there are in their late 40s or older and may have ridden on Pennsy trains or happen to have color interior shots. Give it a shot!
If that doesn’t work, contact the Pennsylvania Railroad Historical & Technical society at http://www.prrths.com/PRR_Default.html
Historical societies usually have a wealth of information.
Case in point: NHRRJet is a member of the New Haven Railroad Historical Technical Society. He’s the one that informed me that the streamlined New Haven coaches had Royal Blue seats.
When you get the information, please share it with us.
Hope this helps!
Hi Antonio.
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll do just that.
Alvie.
Antonio has a good suggestion. You might even go a bit deeper into the website and check out the “Keystone Modeler.” http://www.prrths.com/Keystone%20Modeler/Keystone_Modeler.htm, which is a great resource for modeling the Pennsylvania Railroad. That might yield the result you’re looking for.
There is also a PRR discussion list that might help you find the answer. Go to the Keystone Crossings site and follow the links to sign up. It is a great resource for information of this sort. http://kc.pennsyrr.com/
Regards,
It’s been a year, but found something!
A friend of mine acquired some beautiful photos of passenger equipment in Tampa, circa-late 1960s. Two of the cars were maroon colored smooth sided Pennsy units! One a sleeper, the other a lounge. A couple of interior shots: The interior walls and ceiling of the lounge appear to be a very pale light green, very similar to the color seen in many school bus interiors. Seems like this is a common color for passenger cars of various railroads.
Hope this helps!
Just my opinon, but looks like 2 parts Reefer White and 1 part NYC Jade Green would be a reasonbly close approximation.
