Forgot to ask on my Monday blurb - saw an M T coal train - JHMX - heading west, of course. Had 5 coal cars with the bottom dump doors hanging open. Will this cause any trouble up to the point of loading?

I’ll take my shot. Open because someone failed to latch them or they are bad order.
Might be a rule violation to move the cars with the doors open. If repairs are needed, that work might be done at the mine. If they are not fixed and closed before loading, then it gets real interesting.

I can understand missing one, but 5 on one train? And while I keep hearing the side door boxcars need to have their doors closed before moving, they are always open a lot of the time when we see them. Just inviting unwanted riders, I would think…?

Having the bottom dump doors of a hopper car while moving sounds dangerous.It could snag on something and cause a derailment[:(].
