Public invited to comment on new Tacoma Amtrak station designs

Wow! That is a very bad design!

It looks like a Walmart with the glass option. Did they say glass option? …or kind of like an upscale Firestone Tire dealership. Who designed this thing? Maybe some refugees from the old Soviet Union…one of the weirder station designs Ive seen…makes an Amtrack shack look like the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It looks like a cheap apartment building that forgot the windows for the first floor.

Really ugly.

They are trying to utilize the existing commuter station, which is an old freight station.

Keep in mind this has to dovetail with the current 1940ish Milwaukee Road station so choices are limited. Does make one wish that we could have the 1911 station back now a fed courthouse

Exit 133, a Tacoma based website, has the following information, with a much different design. Click “http://www.exit133.com/articles/view/new-amtrak-station-at-freighthouse-square#.VCXDQs8o6Cg

Pretty sad state of affairs when, at a time of depot construction, the architectural vernacular is barren of good ideas that help relate form and function.

Very ordinary and pedestrian design. Surely, someone can develop a more dramatic and exciting expression of train travel!

Why not use the old Union station. I hear it is a wonderful building

Poor Tacoma. The old Union Station was (as is) magnificent, but the city stupidly built a freeway destroying an old warehouse district which today would be a gem of a revitalized neighborhood, and forced the removal of the tracks away from the station. The current Amshack is still better than what will eventually come out of Freighthouse Square. Sigh.

They all suck ;the designs looks like either a barracks or an airport terminal. I wouldn’t give 2 cents for any designs that were presented.
