I’ve been trying to avoid this issue, I think I am going down the wrong path. I am assuming the Lionel ZW’s are not pure sine wave xfmrs. What kind of problems am I going to have trying to run both TMCC and DCS from those xfmrs?

Tom, I have both.
Old ZW is, new ZW is an electronic Switching Power supply. If you were to feed the bricks directly into DCS’s TIU it won’t be an issue. If you try to feed the contoller/console outputs into the TIU you will no get pure sinewave unless you run at full throttle (which obviates running through the controller). BTW, If you try to use the old ZW, make sure you install a quick blow breaker/fuse between it and the TIU.
